General George Crook

You would think this would be where the crooks hang out. However, the town was named in honor of General George Crook.  General Crook fought in the Civil War but is best known for his peacekeeping efforts with the Native American Indians.  He helped keep the peace with Cochise and Geronimo.  He is considered to be one of the few generals who fought for the civil rights of the American Indians.
