Believe it or not, this is the real home of Superman. DC comics came to town in 1972 and claimed this community is the home of Superman. The Illinois state legislature followed through and made it official. The community has a 100 foot tall statue of the “Man of Steel”, a Superman museum and the real Lois Lane from the 1950’s television show has been known to show up on occasion. Yes, the local newspaper is the Daily Planet! Little did the founding fathers have any idea the name they chose for their town would have this type of impact. Where, is Metropolis located?
